Fallout 3 Underground wants all of its users to have a good time but, as with anything there are a few ground rules that will need to be followed.

Don't forget to read the FAQ as well!

Before we get to the rules, here is our most important one. It's so important, it gets listed separately, and has an introduction, so bloody well read it!

The mods here are for contributing members of the community. This is a forum, not a download hub. We just happen to host some mods made by our members. Only approved members have access to the download database, and in order to get approval you must have at least 30 posts, and have been a member for at least three days. Don't think of those things as requirements, just the point at which you are eligible for approval. You are unlikely to be approved if 30 posts and 3 days is all you've done! If you don't like the forums, leave. If you don't post much, just wait a bit. Post as much as you want, and eventually you'll get approved, even if you have less than 30 posts. And don't make threads about this, please, we're seriously sick of them. Anyway,

Rules:

These rules apply for everything and everyone. No exceptions.

Main Forum Rules

1. Do not post before you read this in its entirety.
If you are directed to read the rules and FAQ by a Mod or Admin via PM, consider that a final warning. If you choose to ignore their advice and continue to break the rules after the time stamp on the warning, you may be banned for intentionally breaking the rules.

2. Do not attack another person. You may politely disagree with their position.

3. If you have a problem with someone send them a polite PM. If you have a a problem with a Team Member, a Moderator or Administrator, it should be brought to an attention of another Mod or Admin. It should not be brought to the public forum.

4. DO NOT abuse harass or ridicule other members of the Underground for any reason. Not via open forum and not via PM. Violators will be banned immediately. To show evidence of a harassing or abusive PM, simply invite an Admin or Mod to the PM conversation.
  • 4a. Do not ridicule race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, creed, occupation or national origin even when not referring to a member of the Underground
We are a very diverse group here from many countries and many backgrounds. Respect that diversity. That does not mean you cannot point out what you believe are flaws in a particular belief. This means that things like "All Christians want to distill elderly into delicious milkshakes" is not allowed. While I personally would be for this I don't believe broader Christianity would be. Their loss.

5. No Porn allowed on this forum.
Anything not safe for work (NSFW) outside of an 18+ thread is not allowed on this forum.
Anything linked to that is not safe for work must be noted as such.We want these forums to be comfortable for all.

6. Do not drag threads off topic. Random stuff is for the Spamsville forum.

7. If a moderator asks you to stop doing something, STOP DOING IT.
If you have a problem with a moderator contact an Admin via PM. To see who is an admin and moderator go to the main forum page and look at the bottom of the forum for the list of groups. Click on a group to see members.

8. Thread Necromancy/Bumping
If a topic hasn’t been touched for six weeks or more, and what you are about to post isn’t exactly important or has already been said, don’t post it. There’s nothing more annoying that after six weeks having to reread a thread because someone necro'd it with something like “oh yeah, I think so too.”

This rule however does not count for the uploaded files section, these are excluded from the necro rules so one is allowed to post on that section though still has to keep the no spam rule in mind.

9. Double/multiple posting
Don't post multiple posts without anyone else posting in between them. EDIT your last post instead of posting new ones.

10. If your first post is a rant you will be banned immediately.
No explanation needed.
  • 10a. If your first post is a spam post this could give you, depending on a case by case situation, either a warning or a ban.
For new members who needs more information about spam I would suggest to read this

11. Do not badger/beg a modder to make your/a mod. If they want to help you they will, no need to nag.
Making a request while being a member needs to be made with the proper rules for this request.
Posting a picture and asking if anyone can make this is a task that is almost impossible to do so add everything that is needed to it.
Rules for making a proper request you can find here.
When not creating a proper request the topic will be closed and you will be notified about this.

12. One word posts like "yeah", "ok", etc etc... are not needed, neither are emote posts. "" "" ""

13. Do not make a thread or post asking why you can't download things unless you're having genuine technical difficulties. If you do this you will be banned immediately.

14. Regarding spam threads: we have a forum specifically for posting low content threads.
If you want to start an amusing forum game, or make a list thread (eg: your top 5 superheroes) make it in Spamsville. If you make a thread like that outside of that forum, you will receive a warning. If you make a thread, even within that forum, that is entirely pointless, you may get banned. It's important to remember to think before you post, but think extra hard before you post a new thread.

15. You may not register multiple accounts. Doing so may get them all banned. If you've forgotten your password, just use the password reset feature like you would at any other site. If you still can't get back in to your account, you can make a new one, but notify the staff about the situation.

16. Do not make a thread or post that could be construed as advertising for a third party. Do not post links where you are rewarded every time someone clicks it. Don't get this site involved in pyramid schemes and chain letters, and do not make your posts billboards.

17. Please do not make threads about, post about or discuss Religion and Politics. This can cause flame wars which can lead on to many other things which we as human beings do not want. If you do discuss these things, you may be warned or banned. It all depends on the discussion and many other factors. DO NOT DO IT

18. No plagiarism. If you want to quote a block of text from somewhere else, link to the source. You must also add a comment of your own.

19. Do not abuse the reputation system.
Voting posts up or down is to be done based on the merits of that post alone. Do not go around approving or disapproving the posts of a member because you like or dislike them. The former is just silly, the latter is a form of harassment. If you are caught doing this, you will be warned, and may lose your access to the reputation system, as well as have your own reputation points set to some horrible number by the staff.
Make sure that you leave a post with the reason why you gave the reputationpoint.
This can be helpfull to those that receive a negative reputationpoint so they are able to improve their posting behaviour.

20. We have certain rules for the shoutbox. You can read these here. Familiarise yourself with these rules, because you can still get banned for what you post on the shoutbox.

21. Do not ask anyone to give you a mod that you do not have the right to have be it through not being approved or any other reason.

22. When you signed up to the Underground, you agreed to the rules and regulations of our site. As rules are made and changed, you are free to change your mind or disagree with them. If you do, you may send a polite private message to an administrator or moderator to do so. If you publicly make a thread or post in disagreement of the rules, send an abusive PM to a staffer, or display a will to go against any of the rules, you are making an agreement to relinquish your membership here at the Underground. Following this, your account may be banned or deleted.

23. Do not post threads about software or media piracy
The Underground does not condone piracy this side of the 19th century. Posting to discuss anything that can be seen as a solicitation for others to post positive views of piracy, asking how or showing how to pirate will earn you anything from a warning, a suspension or an outright ban.

24. As we had several topics created about why and that members got banned from another site, this rule is created as it has no use to start a thread about it.
The issue of being banned there will not solve it here when discussing it on the forum.

Therefore it is not allowed to start a topic about being banned elsewhere.
breaking this rule will be handled on a case by case situation as it can give you a warning or a ban.
This is depending on the topic content that is created for it.

How to Contest a Warning
If you feel you received a warning unfairly, PM an Admin or Mod Leader. They will discuss the matter with the moderation team and get back to you.

Some General Thoughts
- Respect is paramount in the forums! Just because someone has a different view point doesn't make them wrong.
- Keep language in check, we're mostly adults here but over usage of bad language helps no one and gets you no where.
- Treat everyone as an equal, new members may ask previously answered questions. Be kind and link them to the post answering the question don't flame them.
- If an admin asks you to do something we do it to make sure everyone has a good time. If you believe our decision is wrong, talk with us one on one and try to resolve the issue.

Some Comments on Spam

1. Supportive Spam
Whenever anyone post pics of WIP stuff, etc. They get loads of comments like “wow, jawdropping, etc.” While this is very nice of you, if you don’t go into detail as to why something is awesome, it’s basically a useless post. Overly critical comments are better than such without any at all.
(You obviously won’t get a warning for saying "Good job" every once in a while as we all do it, should it happen over and over for the same model(s) without any reason other than OMG ITS SO BEAUTIFUL in may result in some sort of reprimand. That being said saying WHY you like the model/texture/picture is vastly preferred to just that's so cool)

2. Completely random spam
Serious discussion is going on, someone says something that reminds someone else of something else, etc... and all of a sudden we start talking about whether Barack Obama is dying his hair. Point is: Stay on topic! You can add in some witty comment but only if in that same post you also participate seriously in the discussion.

Posting mods
1. Mods that are easily available at other sites, such at the Nexus should not be uploaded here, unless you are the original author.
If you are not the creator of the mod you want to upload, it must be relatively difficult to find (ie: only available via sites such as rapidshare) and you must have the creator's permission, and give full credit. If you are unable to contact the creator, and they do not specify in their readme that the mod must not be redistributed, you may upload it. And again, you MUST give full credit. However, if the creator decides they do not wish their mod hosted here, it will immediately be deleted. You can use the Mod Recommendation forum to tell people about cool mods that are hosted on other sites. But, just to reiterate, if you're the original author (and your mod complies with rule 2 below) you can upload it here.

If you want to upload a mod that you have worked on, but contains elements from other modders, you must have their permission in order to upload it here, and credit must be given.

2. Any mods uploaded here must be of a certain quality, that is decided by the staff of this site. As a basic guideline, WIPs are fine, but if your mod is nothing more than a chinese assault rifle that fires mini-nukes or brahmin or whatever, then just put it on the Nexus, where it belongs. It's a waste of space.

Regarding warnings:

One Warning = Be good!
Second Warning = Seriously, be good!
Third Warning = Ban.

Yes, we have a three strikes policy here, although some things warrant an instant ban, if you receive three warnings, whatever they may be for, you will be banned. Warnings aren't given out lightly though. Generally, they are only given out for particularly egregious spam and abuse. You will also receive a warning if you're caught leeching.

These rules may be updated as needed.
