Was any one else disappointed in the Skyrim ending? It had no suspense to it, just shouting dragonrend at Alduin and beating him. No one even knows you killed him and you don't get any godly armor or weapon from it either. Plus it was extremely short.

While i did the whole fight on master at around lvl 51 and his breath attack could easily kill me instantly if i didnt block, but the lack of reward or even the feeling of accomplishment cuse unlike in oblivion after you finished the main story arc the citizens of cyrodil would acclaim you as the great champion,no one in skyrim seems to give a crap that you just saved them from the world-eater.Frankly i find fighting ancient dragons much more rewarding then alduin at least i get something out of it after a good fight.
And the same goes to the civial war story arc,you finish it and people still act as if the war was still going on,no one giving squat about you its really disapointing.

Agreed, I was disappointed as well, not at the uber loot i didn't receive(as i had enough of that at the end), but the fact the only recognition i got was from the greybeards and they were like "lolgoodjobkbainow" and bam thats it. people in town just talk about the dragon i released, and scolding me for it >:[.

Well it is disappointing ending indeed. Nothing useful expect lolololol Dead Champion shout (Which i never had need to use) And ability to summon bad-ass dragon (What i used once and he almost killed me when he cross my Dragonrend). Well after all i just kill this fat ass dragon on top of the mountain just to make me feel better...
Its good to be bad......

Just got finished with the civil war quest-line. Very disappointing as well, again no reward nor any recognition.

These where my thoughts exactly I would have liked a unique set of armor or a weapon regardless of its stats just something nobody else has as recognition maybe a sword made from an ancient dragon or armor made for tiber septim hell id of been happy with a few people just saying thanks instead of just the greybeards and the blades (Anybody else hate Delphine??) I think im gonna make her un-essential and butcher her!

To have such an anticlimactic ending to such an amazing game was...disheartening. But even before the ending, I must admit to some disappoint concerning the Dragonborn's notoriety in the game. Only by using shouts in cities or killing a Dragon near a populated area did you get any sort of recognition among the people of Skyrim, and that was for as long as it took for the crowd to disperse or the guard to ask you to stop Shouting. Given that the last Dragonborn, at least if I have my information correct, was Talos of Atmora, I would think the appearance of a new one would spark a great deal of interest among a great many people. For most of the game, despite having such amazing abilities and slaying Dragons, I felt unrecognized. Kind of like a nobody.

I felt the exact same way. dragonborn: "I JUST KILLED ALDUIN" guard: "Please stop shouting, you're annoying people"........ummm...I just saved your sorry ass...no big deal or anything....but could you at least give me a pat on the back? Even in fallout 3, if you had good karma, people would come up to you and give you random stuff, even though it was crap, it was still nice to be recognized. I felt like this was either an over sight by bethesda, or a strategic move. If you think about it, they might have left the ending without a reward so modders could step in and make some cool stuff (unlikely, but hey, I like to give them a second chance).
I will so join in that fun. I hate delphine and Esbern like no other. They just moved into a temple dedicated to me, then told me I can't go there unless I SPOILER
kill parthuurnax? No, actually I'll keep him and kill you....jerks.

To those saying that no-one but the gretbeards and blades thank you for killing Alduin: you're missing one thing. The guards will also comment on it at random. "No matter what happens, the guards will always be grateful for what you've done, dragonborn." "You've vanquished a great evil from this world, dragonborn, and saved our souls from a fate worse than death." The second one may be quoted incorrectly. I only remember the beginning perfectly, but you get the idea.

I wish there was something epic in the End like Talos himself would come to thank you like it was in morrowind where Azura instead appeared. Btw the battle was really lame for me cause i was 79 level back then and alduin wasnt more difficult than ancient dragon so all it took was one dragonrend and 5 seconds on the ground and it was over. And btw i played at expert difficulty. I like that idea that monsters no more scale with your level but Alduin should have been exception.

I was mixed on it. I felt a bit content and yet unsatisfied. My fight with Alduin wasn't too bad (Finished him off with Unrelenting Force
. ) but the way it just left off like that just didn't feel right. I mean Oblivion had a cutscene and a nice set armor (even though it wasn't the best ending or the best reward, at least there was appreciation compared to the Graybeard's apathy).

I kinda like the fact people generally overlook what you did. In fairness, it's not like Oblivion where you and Martin ended up bitchslapping ole Mehrunes Dagon back to Oblivion in the middle of the Imperial City (well, he did it, but you were there!); the final battle in Skyrim happens in another realm altogether, so it's entirely plausible that nobody would have a clue. Not to mention that the dragons are still attacking, so many people won't notice a change at all.
Also, not being a renowned hero means it's actually more plausible for you to go around completing faction quests, most notably those of the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild; both of which would just not feel right if everyone you come across during the job knew you as the hero of Skyrim.

The ending was so bad that I didn't even know that I beat the game, I was stuck wondering what I had to do next until I realized there was nothing..
What do you mean? In Oblivion you could play after the end of the main quest, you even got a special (But almost useless) set of armor that you have to wait two ingame weeks for..

Only the guards care to talk about your beating Alduin, but still they are going to kill you for the slightest infraction...

The ending was pretty bad. It is really strange that the game doens't have ending credits. I didnt even notice when it actually ended cause I expected the credits.

It's because the game hasn't really ended. Nothing is different after completing the MQ other than the fact Alduin is gone.
