Downtime ahead.

Dear VGUNetwork Members,

We will experience a complete downtime in a few days for a few days (maintenance, moving some stuff around). We have no excat date right now, but I will either be fast enough to post an update before it happens or you will notice it.

Crowdfunding Donation Goal

Dear VGUnians,

I'm currently trying to finish the rest of the site, but this needs a big chunk of additional...numbers. As you might have heard already some time ago, I have lost my job in December, had to ask for a good amount of donations and haven't found a new job so far. Therefor I have way less ressources available to pay out of my pocket.

If you want to help me reach the Crowdfunding Goal to be able to finalize VGUNetwork v2 (mostly in terms ofDesign and a bit of code), then you are more than welcome to do so and I would be more than happy and grateful.

One of the goals with this Crowdfunding Goal is to purchase a 100% unique skin from IPBForumSkins.com (based on our current Skin).

Another Skin? GOD DAMNIT, MAXUNIT!
I know...I know...but none of the Designs we had so far was the final Design ever. I always was on the lookout for a proper Design, but I never found it. We currently have the Maxx Dark Skin and it offers everything I want in terms of settings etc, but I'm just not happy with the way how it looks and that it slows down the entire Site if it uses a width of more than 50%. I hope you understand me.

Coding? Like...wut?

Apologizing for the confusion.

Dear VGUnians,

some of you might have encountered an Overlay about Adblock detection recently.
We have disabled the Adblock Detector Script, since FireFox + Adblock Plus and the Script did not get along. We are investigating the issue, we are trying to fix it.

New Tags & Prefixes System

Dear VGUnians,

We just installed an entirely new Tags & Prefixes System, which caused most topics to loose their Tags and/or Prefixes. We also had to clean up a lot in the MySQL Database.

2012 is (nearly) over, let's welcome 2013!

The year 2012 is nearly over, only a few hours (depending on your timezone) are left...or you already are in 2013 .

2012 truly was a year filled with anticipation, stress and a lot of work, but also with success, dedication from the Team and the Community surprised us here and there.

I highly enjoyed it to work on VGUNetwork, see it grow and prosper and to have a Team I can lean on.

Several acts from the community surprised me a lot, like the donations from around 2 weeks ago. $600 in less than 2 weeks. This was insane and showed me (again), how important VGUNetwork is to a lot of people. Thanks to all out there as well, who weren't able to donate, but contributed in a different way...with words. You showed spirit there as well and that is, what counts!

I'd like to keep this news short and hope, that every member from VGUNetwork will celebrate the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013

Upcoming downtime.

Yep, another downtime coming up. This time for updating the forums tho

We will update to the latest Invision Power Board release, which will bring several new features and cleans up a lot in the backend as well, since Invision implemented some features nativly into the IP.Suite, which we currently have to use as third-party hooks & addons.

The update routine will start shortly, means, in around 2 hours (before midnight GMT+1).

Final Update on current Situation

Dear VGUnians,

I'm speechless.

I asked the Community around a week ago to help the Community, especially me, with donating a total of 600 US Dollars. It first seemed, that the initial goal of giving the Community 11 days, until Christmas Eve, wouldn't work out. I increased the limit to 30 days.

Look at VGUNetwork now. Only a week later and I can say:

You guys helped me A LOT and I can continue running VGUNetwork, like nothing happened in the past few days.

This Community surprises me again and again and again.

A big "Thank you!" to all those, who donated and an even bigger "Thank you!" to our Member Corehound. He donated a lot.

I followed the request and added the old "Underground" Theme back to the Forums. It is now select-able for everyone.

I will keep this news short this time and tell you guys:

VGUNetwork won't go offline and I wish all of you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Update on current situation

Dear VGUnians,

I like to update you on the current situation and answer a few questions, which some people might have.

Right now, the Community really backs me up, sends donations and helps me out in a very great way. Thanks to all of you. A special thanks to Corehound

Google Adsense shows better numbers now as well. Thanks a lot to those, who allow Advertisments to be displayed.

I have faith in the Community and that you guys will help me out, so that VGUNetwork will remain online.

Some Members might ask: Why did a Natural Selection 2 Server pop up out of the sudden? The future of VGUNetwork wasn't that bright, when the Server was announced!
Answer: Well, Natural Selection 2 is evolving to a popular Multiplayer Shooter, there are a lot of non-stop filled Servers in the USA (EU seems pretty decent). If you are a Natural Selection 2 player, want a good and stable server to play on AND want to support us through subscribing and have a reserved slot on our Server, then you can do it this way.

(PS: Any game server we are hosting is free of charge for us, since we are hosting the server on our own, not renting it)

I want to keep this Community up and running, want to give the Community new Features.

Another question: I WOULD LOVE to donate, but the PayPal Site is in German?
Answer: Sometimes, you can solve this issue with logging in to your PayPal Account and then redo the Donation process, this should fix it. It seems to be a caching issue. I do not have this issue and my PayPal Account is set to English.

Also, I'm working on the old "Underground" Theme for the Forum right now, so that people, who liked this theme, can use it again.
